Daughters of Africares Kenya is a Non-Profit Charity Organization operating in the informal settlements of Kenya (Kibra, Kawangware, Dandora, and Nyalenda, among others). The organization was founded by Sister Fenny Abrams, a gifted Gospel Artist and Songwriter, on 23rd June 2020 as a teenage mothers' care centre where young victims of early pregnancy found refuge during and after pregnancy. The organization has, however, strived with limited resources to expand the aid to include supporting widows, orphans, needy children, and partnering with schools in these informal settlements to foster education. The charity has worked with children and families in Kenya since 2020, taking practical action in the areas of education and community development.Today we are led by a passionate, diverse team who all share the charity’s core values of inclusivity, compassion, and empowerment and we share a desire to see a world in which families, children, and young people in Kenya live with dignity, opportunity and hope.In 2025 we are yet to emphasize the ideals of Daughters of Africares to give a clear emphasis on our intentions and work for the future. Our roots have shaped our direction giving us a way to confidently express our ethos and values in the future.
We are people-centred: Our organisational culture centres the importance of wellbeing, lived experience, and the ability to thrive for all teenage mothers, widows, orphans, needy children, and anyone working with Daughters of Africares.
We are collaborative: We listen actively, reflect on our own actions, admit to failure, look for opportunities to learn, to act, to be better. We’re happy to share with and learn from individuals and organisations in our work to create the biggest impact.
We are bold: We set ambitious targets both within our programmes and for advocating for change within the sector. We strive for meaningful impact, not just good intentions. We are not afraid to speak out and make bold changes.
Our monthly free training programs for teenage mothers, widows, and children address any of the barriers which may stop a young devastated young mother from being able to learn. During the training, we offer:
At Daughters of Africares, we believe in second chances for mothers who have lost hope, for widows who feel like they've lost their place in society, and for children who need a caring society to mold their future.
